Abstract The authors describe China's activities of polar cryospheric research during the latest International Polar Year 2007-08. In the Antarctic, China implemented their PANDA Project (Program of Antarctic Nova Disciplines Aspects). Arctic research included a scientific voyage of the research vessel Xuelong to the central Arctic Ocean. The authors present collaborative efforts with international partners, preliminary results from the research conducted and the legacy of the IPY. (mte)
