Abstract In addition to reports from CCAMLR, SCAR, COMNAP, CEP, International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) and other organizations, Consultative Meeting discussions included revised management plans for Antarctic Specially Protected Areas (ASPAs) at Moe Island, South Orkney Islands and Rothera Point, Adelaide Island; designations and management plans for Antarctic Specially Managed Areas (ASMAs) at Amundsen-Scott South Pole station and Larsemann Hills, East Antarctica; and addition of monument to Antarctic Treaty and International Polar Years at Fildes Peninsula, King George Island in South Shetland Islands to list of Historic Sites and Monuments. Other topics covered were administrative matters relating to Secretariat; domestic implementation of Annex VI on liability for environmental damage; safety and operations, and grounding of Nordkapp at Deception Island; 2007-2008 International Polar Year; tourism and non- governmental activities; scientific cooperation and facilitation; education and outreach; exchange of information; and biological prospecting in Antarctica. Resolutions passed related to site guidelines for visitors; conservation of southern giant petrel Macronectes giganteus; long-term scientific monitoring and sustained environmental observation; ship-based and other tourism
