Abstract Examines what is known about Aptenodytes forsteri colonies in Australian sector of Antarctica, and assesses status of colonies as confirmed breeding locations, or requiring further investigation to determine existence and status. As several colonies have not been seen since first reported their status as breeding colonies is unconfirmed, which suggests that listing of species by IUCN should be changed from of least concern to data deficient.
